The November 2007 issue of Clarksville Family Magazine visits local elementary schools, reworks Kipling for parents, and celebrates Thanksgiving.

An interview by Cliff Lavergne took readers inside local elementary education, visiting schools including Barkers Mill Elementary near Tiny Town Road and St. Bethlehem Elementary, where a young student's love for principal Terry Workman and “St. Bee” captured the warmth of a good neighborhood school.

A standout feature by Kimberly Haynes Titlebaum, inspired by Rudyard Kipling, reworked the poet's form into a reflection for parents — the kind of original, literary touch that distinguished the young magazine from a simple listings guide.

A feature on photographer Monica Quattrochio celebrated a local artist behind the lens, in keeping with the magazine's early and enduring championing of the community's creative talent.

“Thanksgiving Fun” brought the season's spirit to the issue with ideas for celebrating the holiday, and a Marketplace feature pointed readers toward local businesses.

Read as part of the archive, the November number marks the magazine's first Thanksgiving season with the community — balancing local schools, original writing and the arts, and beginning a long tradition of gathering, gratitude and celebration the publication would share with its readers year after year. The Titlebaum piece, in particular, showed a magazine willing to take creative risks in its earliest months, offering readers something to savor rather than simply skim.
