The cover feature follows Still Moves, a band whose lineup came together across a decade of friendship. Hunter and Colling have known each other since college; the project took off about a year earlier when Hunter messaged Greene songs he and Colling had been working on, and Greene sent back songs he and Frost had been developing, with Bo joining on drums. “He liked our songs, I liked his stuff, and we started talking about getting something together,” Greene said.
The name took nearly as long as the music. “It took us forever to come up with the name Still Moves,” Hunter said — possibly inspired by a My Morning Jacket album, after they passed on The Smoking Jackets and Space Station Fundraiser. Recorded in Ike's basement studio, the result is a six-song EP the band itself finds hard to categorize: “I think it's a rock album,” Colling offered, while Greene landed on “Americana-driven, but with rock aspects throughout,” and Colling added “a little singer/songwriter, with a lot of funk.”
“Plant Therapy” profiles a new local store, My Plant Therapy, and the idea behind it — that there is real calm to be found in tending houseplants and gardens. Owner Tracy aims to introduce more Clarksville residents to that quiet, hands-in-the-soil comfort.
The two features pair naturally: a band recording in a basement and a shop built on the meditative work of keeping things alive, both stories of Clarksville creatives making something personal.
The issue carries the late-spring community calendar and the local business and nonprofit coverage that anchors each month, giving May a distinctly homegrown, creative flavor.
