The 13th Annual Butterfly Festival is back, running 11:00am to 4:00pm — an international and regional award-winning event and one of the area's most beloved family traditions, drawing crowds for a day built around the season's most delicate spectacle.
“How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall?” turns to The Well, one of the many Clarksville organizations standing by to offer a helping hand. Jeff Shocklee anchors the feature's look at an outreach that stands tall in a city with no shortage of need, a profile of neighbors helping neighbors, and of the volunteers and staff who keep the doors open for anyone who walks through them.
The issue's most anticipated story is The Mailroom. For months, downtown visitors watched construction at 116 North 2nd Street, where the former U.S. Post Office building — built in 1935 — was being reborn as a restaurant. The wait finally ended: The Mailroom opened to the public on July 25 after several days of soft-opening events, the latest venture from local favorite restaurateur Wes Cunningham, co-owner of Strawberry Alley. The feature takes readers inside the transformation of a historic civic building into a new gathering place, a small landmark in the ongoing revival of downtown Clarksville.
“Discover Your Community” rounds out the issue with a look at the connections and resources that knit the area together, in keeping with the magazine's role as much a community bulletin board as a glossy read.
A profile of Coach Ted Young adds a sports dimension to the issue, spotlighting one of the local figures shaping young athletes — balancing a festival, a ministry, a landmark reborn and a coach across one full late-summer number.
