The cover feature profiles artist Ricky Cavaness, who says he has been painting for about twenty years but doodling and drawing since he was a little kid. Readers may have already seen one of his latest works — a mural, “Last Train to Clarksville,” that nods to the city's musical and rail history and its place in the popular imagination. The piece follows his path from childhood sketches to public art.

A new business takes shape on Dover Road, where Amanda Martin and Deana Mills — longtime coworkers — are launching The Coffee House. The pair describe how the project came together when the property's owners were looking for the right tenant, and their excitement about opening a gathering spot of their own.

The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce held its January Business After Hours at Holiday Inn Clarksville Northeast, one of the regular networking events that keeps the local business community connected through the winter months.

The rest of the issue carries the community's early-spring calendar and its profiles of local people, businesses and nonprofits, alongside the food, history and photo coverage that anchor each month. From a downtown mural to a new coffee house, the issue celebrates the people making and remaking Clarksville.
