The cover feature maps what the writer calls “Nashville's Spice Road” — a treasure trove of international stores and restaurants on and just off Nolensville Pike, ten minutes from downtown Nashville with the skyline looming above. Most people know the strip only as the way to the Nashville Zoo, but the piece wanders the ethnic markets and kitchens north and south of it. It lingers on Uzbek plov cooked in a large cauldron called a kazan, homemade hummus, suzma and ikra, the lentil soup chechevitsa and the beetroot salad vinegret, plus kimchi, kebabs, grilled fish and baklava — a first installment promising more of a food scene the writer says they've barely scratched.

Closer to home, Serra Chevrolet Cadillac Clarksville hosted the March Business After Hours for the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce, one of the networking events that keeps the local business community connected.

The rest of the issue fills out with the season's community coverage — the spring events, the profiles of local people and businesses, and the recipes, history and photo spreads that make up each month. The international-food feature gives the issue an outward-looking, adventurous flavor while the local coverage keeps it grounded in Clarksville.

It is an issue built for the curious eater and the connected professional alike — equally at home on Nolensville Pike and in a Clarksville dealership showroom after hours.
