The May 2026 issue of Clarksville Living Magazine opens a farm store on Woodlawn Road, walks into a skatepark drawing national attention, and pairs local authors with a glass of wine at Beachaven.

Naomi Chavez has run The Amsterdam Local in downtown Clarksville for nearly three years. The new Amsterdam Farmstore & Coffee at 1880 Woodlawn Road came from driving past a storefront in a part of the county she used to live in and deciding the timing was right. The second location is deliberately not a copy of the first: mostly grab-and-go rather than a full menu, the same coffee and baked goods, and a good deal of shelf space given over to local grocery items. It opens 7:00am to 3:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, with hopes of extending to 5:00pm once the traffic pattern is clear. Sundays stay closed — much of the staff is involved with their church, and Chavez wants the second store to carry the same culture as the first.

Boneyard is a skatepark, a venue and a skate shop at once, and visually it is a lot to take in — high ceilings, exposed rafters, graffiti-style original artwork on the walls, and a stage its admirers compare to the Ryman's. Reno and Cooper Boudreau took the risks to get it off the ground; Chelsey Boudreau helped design the park, created the logo, and built the skate shop that forms the entryway. The booking started strong with metal from Autumn Lies Buried and Fuzzripper, local heavyweights No Name Maddox and Captain Molasses, and a set from DJ Foreign. National attention followed fast: within days of opening, a ten-year-old skater sponsored by national gear companies had the crowd's full attention.

The Beachaven Book Fair in March put books and wine in the same room, with local vendors, live music from Colin Issoti and food from Sassy's truck. Shoppers browsed Fox Hollow, The Wednesday Box Candle Co., Blue Cheese Printing, Curations by Katie and Blush & Bashful Bookstore, while authors including Lindsey Richardson, Hunter Roxie and Ember Johnson met readers.

The rest of the issue keeps to food and community — a thrifting feature on finding something new-to-you, a meal at Akita Ramen Sushi & Izakaya, and the month's events calendar.
